The sequel to the re-working of the 2012 Snow White story, ”Snow White and the Huntsman”, has been given a new working title. The sequel, originally titled ”The Huntsman” will now be titled ”The Huntsman Winters War”.
”The Huntsman Winters War” will see Charlize Theron (”Mad Max: Fury Road”, ”Monster”) and Chris Hemsworth (”Thor”) reprising their roles from the original film, with Hemsworth playing The Huntsman and Theron playing Ravenna. New cast members include Emily Blunt (”Sicario”, ”Devil Wears Prada”) who take son the role of Freya, and Jessica Chastain (”The Help”, ”The Martian”) who plays Sara. The plot will take place after the events of the original film and will see Queen Ravenna’s sister Freya gathering an army of huntsmen to capture the Magic Mirror and resurrect her fallen sister. Hemsworth’s character The Huntsman must forces with Sara, a fellow banished huntsman, to save their land.
”The Huntsman Winters War” will be directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan who directed the original film and is also know for working as a visual effects artist on films such as ”The Ring” and ”Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl”. A new writing team has taken on this sequel in the form of Disney writer Evan Spiliotopoulos, previously known for 2014’s ”Hercules” as well as ”Tarzan 2”, ”Pooh’s Heffalump Movie” and ”The Jungle Book 2”. He is joined by ”The Hangover Part 2” screenplay writer Craig Martin, who is also known for writing ”Identity Thief” and ”Superhero Movie”.
The film is to be produced by the original films Joe Roth who has previously worked on ”Maleficent”, ”Oz the Great and Powerful” and Tim Burton’s ”Alice in Wonderland”.
Kristin Stewart will not be reprising her role as Snow White from the original film. There has been much speculation that this is to do with her previous indiscretion with director Rupert Sanders (who is also not returning to the project) however there has been no confirmation of this.
”The Huntsman Winters War” is set to be released in April 2016.
