This week Urban Twist brought you the news that Kristen Stewart is not to feature in upcoming ”Snow White and the Huntsman’ sequel, ”The Huntsman Winter’s War”. The film is instead set to feature Jessica Chastain and Emily Blunt, with a title change from ”The Huntsman” to ”The Huntsman Winter’s War”.
Now we can reveal the new trailer for the sequel film that sees Chris Hemsworth reprise his role as The Huntsman and Charlize Theron return as Queen Ravenna. Although Kristen Stewarts Snow White banished Ravenna in the original film in this sequel we see Emily Blunts character, Freya, the sister of Ravenna resurrect her. Together they hatch an evil plan, and it is down to The Huntsmen, which includes Jessica Chastain’s character Sara to save their world.
Cedric Nicolas-Troyan worked on the original film as the visual effects supervisor and returns to direct the sequel. He is also known for his visual effects work on ”The Ring”, ”Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl”. The writing team consists of Evan Spiliotopoulos, known for his writing work on a variety of Disney projects including ”The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning” and ”Tarzan 2” and Craig Mazin known for writing ”Identity Thief” and ”The Hangover Part 2”. Joe Roth is producer known for producing ”Maleficent”, ”Oz the Great and Powerful” and the original ”Snow White and the Huntsmen”.
The film was originally set to be a prequel, however with the lack of Kristen Stewart in the film the films plot was changed along with its title. Reports stated that Stewart did not return to the movie due to her indiscretion with the original films director (Rupert Sanders), however this has never been confirmed.
The Huntsmen Winter’s War is due for release in April 2016. The trailer can be seen below.
