A vintage Burger King commercial from the 1990s was unearthed and aired Monday night during the Golden State Warriors and Charlotte Hornets NBA basketball game that features a young Stephen Curry and his father, Dell.
The real secret to Curry’s success? Eating fast food, apparently.
In the endearing commercial, the reigning NBA MVP tells his dad he’s going to be a basketball player when he grows up. Dell, a former basketball player himself, tells his son, “It’s going to take a lot of hard work and practice. You have to study hard too!”
The ad then cuts to Curry wearing a rather large shirt questioning how his dad got to be so big. Little Steph also wants to know how he became one of the basketball greats. The elder Curry attributes his success by saying “you really got to be hungry for it!”
The real question now is when are we going to get the remixed version of this commercial with Steph and his daughter Riley? I’m sure that Burger King is already drooling over that possibility but until then, Burger King will just bask in all of the extra attention that this commercial has surely generated.
