Earlier this year, Michael B. Jordan revealed he was a fan of anime. Then, not too long afterward, it was announced the Black Panther actor would be voicing a lead character, Julian Chase, in an upcoming anime series, gen:LOCK. The series, created by RWBY‘s production team, Rooster Teeth, is slated to arrive in January 2019. In the meantime, here’s a brand new poster of the mecha which are called Holons in the show. (The poster also has some pretty dope motion animation as well!)

As for the plot, the press release states: “In gen:LOCK, Earth’s last free society is on the losing side of a global war, and recruits a diverse team of young pilots to control the next generation of mecha—giant, weaponized robot bodies. These daring recruits will find, however, that their newfound abilities come at no small cost. As Chase leaves behind his life as a fighter pilot to become the first candidate for the program, he finds his endurance, as well as his very identity, will be tested beyond anything he ever imagined.”
Jordan’s production company, Outlier Productions, which recently started to enforce the inclusion rider, will co-produce the show with Rooster Teeth.
gen:LOCK will exclusively premiere on Rooster Teeth’s streaming platform which is available on XBOX One, Apple TV, iOS, and Android apps. Membership pricing starts at $4.99/month.
