The loss of Nipsey Hussle has been compared to the world losing Tupac and Biggie, but never to the Avengers losing Iron Man until now.
That’s how Clifford “T.I.” Harris describes the tragic murder of fellow rapper Nipsey Hussle, who was gunned down outside his own Los Angeles clothing store in March.
This past Wednesday, May 22, T.I. was in Washington D.C. fighting for investments in poor neighborhoods or “opportunity zones.”
“Everybody knows that Nipsey was pretty much the founder of the idea to bring everyone together who, you know, may individually be able to do great things and make a significant impact on their own in their communities,” he said. “But for us to come together, we can impact so, so many more communities and spread our efforts so much wider.”
T.I. who is known to use big words and make major metaphors used Marvel to relate to the loss of Nip. He shared that Nipsey was someone who told him about the program to “benefit and revitalize the underserved areas of society that we all come from.”
“We’re like the ‘Avengers’ of investment,” he said, adding that Hussle’s death was “like losing Iron Man.”
This all went down in the middle of T.I and Charlamagne Tha God’s request to talk about the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that provides incentives for new businesses in disadvantaged areas.
