In honor of Kobe Bryant, the NBA and its Players Association auctioned off 25 All-Star jerseys from its 2020 game in which that of LeBron James sold for a whopping $630,000, with all proceeds headed to Mamba’s charities.
24 out of the 25 jerseys were worn during the first half of the 69th annual game. The 25th was sported by Portland Trail Blazers All-Star Damian Lillard, who hadn’t participated due to an injury.
Additionally, every member on Team LeBron rocked a No. 2, a nod to Kobe’s daughter Gianna Bryant, as Team Giannis (Giannis Antetokounmpo) sported the Black Mamba’s No. 24.
Also, on each of the jerseys, a memorial patch honoring Kobe and GiGi, along with John Altobelli, Keri Altobelli, Alyssa Altobelli, Christina Mauser, Payton Chester, Sarah Chester, and Ara Zobayan — all who passed away on the tragic helicopter crash in January.
In addition to proceeds headed towards the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, an extraordinary amount will be collected and sent to the MambaOnThree Fund, which exists to honor and support the loved ones of the seven other victims.
