A group of Spanish experts state that bruises and lesions on the feet could be an early Coronavirus symptoms.
The Spanish General Council of Official Podiatrist Colleges said that some patients infected with the Coronavirus have lesions “similar to those of chickenpox or measles.”
“They are purple lesions (very similar to those of chickenpox, measles or chilblains) which usually appear on the toes and normally heal without leaving a mark.”
The lesions were mostly prevalent on younger patients in Italy, France and Spain.
“There has been an increasing detection of a symptom in COVID-19 sufferers, especially in children and adolescents, however, it has also been detected in some adults,” the group added.
The experts encouraged people to be on the lookout for these marks on their feet.
“The Council of Podiatrists urges its Colleges and its members to be very vigilant because this may be a sign of COVID-19 detection that can help to avoid contagion.”
However, it is important to note that there is not enough “scientific evidence” to rule it as an official symptom, and it should be taken case by case.
“Obviously, due to the short time elapsed, scientific evidence cannot be discussed yet,” added the experts.
