After making distasteful remarks about a young man who had just been fatally shot by an officer, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department have suspended the officer who had these remarks.
The detective was taped on Dreasjon “Sean” Reed’s viral Facebook Live saying, “I think it’s going to be a closed casket, homie,” an apparent reference to a closed-casket funeral, potentially due to the damage done to him from the gun shots.
Chief Randal Taylor, said that the “unacceptable” actions have resulted in the detective being suspended for multiple days. However, his identity along with the identities of the other officers involved will not be released due to safety reasons as there have been over 26 threats made against officers following the tragic incident.
Sean died after filming himself driving and then eventually pulling over and exiting his vehicle. It has not been made clear why the police were chasing him, but Sean is seen in the video running on foot before he is tazed. Shortly after several shots can be heard and his phone falls to the ground and the sky becomes visible. Parts of the video also show one officer before the live is turned off.
