Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center patients have confessed to intentionally attending “coronavirus parties” to get sick, according to a North Carolina nurse.
The nurse practitioner, Yolanda Enrich, says, “Over the last few days, we have heard from a lot of patients and the community that they’re unafraid of getting the virus.”
She adds, “People are actually out and about trying to get the virus, so attending gatherings, parties trying to maximize their chances of exposure. We’re really concerned about this trend. They can spread the virus around the community and hurt our vulnerable populations that will have serious health implications.”
Enrich shares that younger patients have told staffers their purpose is to develop antibodies so they no longer have to stress about precautions while in public. However, health experts have yet to confirm whether having the antibodies equates to building immunity against contracting the virus for another time.
Additionally, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper sounded off, claiming, “You can easily kill someone you love. {These parties are] completely irresponsible and absolutely unacceptable.”
