Following the viral incident in Central Park where a white woman (identified as Amy Cooper), Christian Cooper made his first TV appearance after she called the police on him and falsely claimed he was threatening her life. Christian stated during the interview that while he accepts her apology, her actions were “definitely racist.”
Ever since he was at the center of a shocking incident in New York’s Central Park that instantly went viral, Christian Cooper spoke out for the first time. Christian was a guest on Don Lemon’s CNN show and explained the incident, how he feels about Amy Cooper’s apology and more.
Speaking to Don Lemon after her read Amy’s apology on-air, Christian said this:
“I think her apology is sincere. I’m not sure that in that apology she recognizes that while she may not be or consider herself a racist, that particular act was definitely racist. And the fact that that was her recourse at that moment — granted, it was a stressful situation, a sudden situation — you know, maybe a moment of spectacularly poor judgment. But she went there and had this racist act that she did.”
Christian continued, adding:
“Is she a racist? I can’t answer that. Only she can answer that. And I would submit probably the only way she’s going to answer that is going forward. How she conducts herself and, you know, how she chooses to reflect on this situation and examine it.”
Following the Central Park incident, Amy Cooper was not only fired from her job, she also had her dog taken away after many noticed in the video that the dog appeared to on the verge of choking due to how she was improper dragging it on its leash.
