Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 holiday season will be very dissimilar than in years past. Good thing Zoom is offering a way to help.
The video-conferencing leader will allow users to talk to their loved ones as much as they’d like this holiday season. Zoom is formally removing its typical 40-minute limit on free accounts.
Zoom is giving its users the eventual Christmas gift in the form of limitless time on video calls over Christmas and New Year’s so families and friends can devote more virtual time together for the holidays. The company stated in a recent Zoom press release: “Whether coming together on the final day of Hanukkah, celebrating Christmas, ringing in the New Year, or marking the last days of Kwanzaa, those connecting with friends and family won’t get cut short.”
As a staple of communication since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, instructed users to exercise extra care for unsolicited “Zoom bombings,” while also giving advices on how to add a festive background to videos to reinforce the holiday spirit.
This is good news for those who are opting to spend the holidays at home instead of physically visiting loved ones.
Zoom will be allowing unlimited video calls on the following days:
December 23rd, Wednesday 10 a.m. ET through December 26th, Saturday 6 a.m. ET
December 30th, Wednesday 10 a.m. ET through January 2nd, Saturday 6 a.m. ET
Despite an alarming surge in COVID-19 cases, over 1 million people lately passed through U.S. airport security checkpoints within the last few days. This occurs even in an alarming sign that public health pleas to avoid holiday travel.
