Brockhampton, a chaotic hip-hop supergroup, released their last full-length album, Ginger, just over two years ago.
Despite the release of a string of strong singles in 2020 — all of which have since been pulled — they remained relatively unnoticed for the majority of the previous year. They popped their heads above ground earlier this week with the release of “Buzzcut,” which featured Danny Brown and hinted at a return. With the release of their latest album, we now know exactly when they will return.
The new album, titled Roadrunner: New Light, New Computer, will be released on April 9th, and will be accompanied by a live-streamed concert from Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La Studios in Malibu. It was motivated by the events of 2020, which forced the once close-knit community to come to terms with growing up, growing apart, and reconnecting as life slowed down for the entire world, according to a press release.
It will also include a limited edition box set that includes a T-shirt in your choice of black, blue, or white, as well as a CD of the album with four bonus tracks. The band has also made several musical changes, with in-house producer Jabari Manwa contributing vocals and the group collaborating for the first time outside of their immediate circle.
Question Everything/RCA Records will release Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine on April 9th.
