Kevin Parker’s path to international stardom began in May 2010 with the release of his debut Tame Impala album, Innerspeaker.
Innerspeaker 10 Year Anniversary Edition box set, which was published today, is the result of his efforts to commemorate the occasion. He’s also released Innerspeaker Memories, a short film that “includes never-before-seen footage from the recording of Innerspeaker at the idyllic Wave House Studio in Western Australia,” according to press materials.
The anniversary edition box set includes the singles “Solitude Is Bliss,” “Lucidity,” and “Expectation,” as well as a collage of album sketches, a deluxe 40-page booklet, instrumental versions of several songs, a newly discovered lengthy jam, and new mixes of tracks from the original album for Tame Impala fans.
“It’s sort of just a ridiculous word I came up with and try to describe the feeling you get when you’re at your most inspired, the idea that it just happens to you vividly and if someone plugged a stereo into your brain they’d be able to hear it,” Parker said of the album title in a 2010 interview. But it’s just a short thing; I’m not Stephen Hawking or Brian Wilson or anything…”
Innerspeaker 10 Year Anniversary Edition is out now via Interscope.
