Ariana Grande has always been outspoken about her liberal political views when it comes to pop stars. She stated her support for Bernie Sanders during last year’s primary and later endorsed the Biden/Harris ticket. Support for queer relationships and gay marriage has been a controversial topic over the past few years for some reason. Ari has long expressed her support for those communities, and today she made an even more direct statement on the topic by dedicating the lyric/dance video for one of her most romantic songs, Positions, to a queer couple.
The sweet clip, which is a little more than a lyric video and a little less than most fan-made dance videos, stars dancers Cory Graves and Brian Nicholson and offers an understated look at two people acting out the emotionally charged lyrics with their bodies. Grande has chosen to make a subtle political statement about the song’s intent by making two men the partners exchanging romantic glances and touches here, rather than a man and a woman. It’s just another impressive move from a diva who has already overcome so much herself and continues to advocate for others.
