The month of May marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Month, and many artists have spoken out about their own personal challenges. Selena Gomez recently announced a campaign to promote more mental health education in classrooms, describing how “scary and lonely” it can be to experience depression alone. Following suit, Ariana Grande has stated her commitment to eradicating the stigma associated with open discussions about mental health.
Grande used social media to kick off Mental Health Awareness Month by sharing some valuable facts. The singer posted a mental health infographic on Instagram, along with a list of specific mental health crisis lines and recovery facilities around the country. “Here’s to ending the stigma around mental health and normalizing asking for help,” Grande wrote alongside the infographic. “Healing isn’t linear, fun, quick or at all easy but we are here and we’ve got to commit to making this time as healthy, peaceful, and beautiful as possible. the work is so hard but we are capable and worth it. Sending so much love and strength.”
Grande’s dedication to mental health awareness comes on the heels of yet another big career achievement: the singer’s “Save Your Tears” remix with The Weeknd officially reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts this week, giving both Grande and The Weeknd their sixth career chart-topping singles.
