Early Walker owns W&W Towing, a company he started from the ground up with only one tow truck. Walker’s company, which now has a fleet of vehicles, has been featured on a number of sites, including A&E’s “Hustle & Tow,” Hollywood Unlocked, Yahoo Finance, and others.
Walker, who is known for his kindness and willingness to support the less fortunate, is an active member of the Chicago community, donating his time, resources, and experience to children whose parents have died as a result of gun violence. His acts of kindness are far from spontaneous, and he recently spoke with rolling out about his generosity and thriving industry.
What are the most important guidelines for being on a show?
I’m going to suggest commitment. Since there are so many hours involved, you must be fully committed. Perseverance and simply being yourself are two things that come to mind. At the end of the day, you’re the one who sells yourself the most.
For all those young hustlers, can you share with them the value of what the hustle is, and how you showcase it on film for them?
Everyday life is a hustle. When you take that into the business world, it’s really about never accepting “no.” You have to continue to be creative [and] figure out ways to be able to find a yes out of a no.
What is the most important thing you’ve learned by having people who have watched the show carry it back to you?
We want to send the message that our lives are important. We are often overlooked. Until you need us, we’re the bad guys. It is mentioned several times in this episode that a life is lost every six days. When you consider the harsh reality that these are real people, it becomes clear. They, too, want to return there. I appreciate how the network was able to portray us as ordinary citizens. That is what we want the audience to comprehend.
What does it feel like to be a supporter of a family that has been through so much? What impact has the show had on your life so that people can see you as a rescuer?
To be able to provide the forum where African Americans can demonstrate to the rest of the world that not everyone is a vulture. Not all truck drivers are evil.
What is that like, to know that your office is a production studio?
This business is one of those things where it’s like you are just required to move. You get an accident. You get a rollover. You get a car in a ditch slide and we got to go.
