When Seth Rogen announced last year that he’ll be directing a computer-animated reimagining of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, he stated he wants the picture to focus on the “teenage” aspect of the team’s name. He’s off to an excellent start.
Rogen tweeted a piece of notebook paper with the kinds of doodles and margin notes you’d expect from a high school chemistry class on Tuesday, but it’s the name at the top that reveals this isn’t your average adolescent. The name Leonardo is written at the top, along with the date August 11, 2023. There are also a lot of Easter eggs about his Turtle brothers and April O’Neill, their human companion.
So, yes, the date on the notebook paper is a clever way to announce the reboot film’s release date, but Rogen added an extra tweet as confirmation just to be safe. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles… Aug 11 2023 (Leo takes notes like I used to),” he tweeted.
Rogen stated the “teenage” component of the Ninja Turtles will be a jumping-off point for the entire film while addressing his plans for the reboot back in August, but he won’t be “disregarding the rest” of the team’s distinctive features.
