When it comes to newcomers in R&B during the last half-decade, Lucky Daye is without a doubt one of the most notable. The New Orleans singer didn’t have a number-one song or album, but she did have well-crafted music and genuine skill. Daye’s debut album, Painted, was released in the spring of 2019 and received four Grammy nominations the following year. The artist would be quiet for the remainder of the year, but he would make a big comeback in 2021.
Daye began the year with his Table For Two EP, and while that could have been enough for other artists in a year’s labor, it appears that the singer is far from finished. The group behind “Roll Some Mo” is back with a brand new tune titled “Running Blind.” The new single will be included on The Undefeated and Hollywood Records’ upcoming Liberated / Music For The Movement Vol. 3 EP, which aims to celebrate Black beauty, self-love, Afrofuturism, and Black empowerment via music. Chloe Bailey, Yara Shahidi, saxophonist Kamasi Washington, and others will appear on the EP, which is a five-track effort.
Daye has a string of collaborations behind him, and this new song is the next in that line. Duets with female singers such as Ari Lennox, Yebba, Joyce Wrice, and others were used throughout the Table For Two EP. On “All About You,” he collaborated with Leon Bridges, and on “Faces,” he collaborated with Buddy.
