Megan Thee Stallion had a tumultuous year in 2018, but she closed the year on a high note with the release of her official first album, Good News. After a few months, a few music videos, and a few live performances, the Houston native decided to take a sabbatical before moving on to the next stage of her career. The rapper announced some time off to “prepare for what’s ahead” during what she dubbed a “period of renewal.” Megan returns with “Thot Sh*t” after a brief hiatus of just over a month.
The new single is accompanied by a video in which the rapper terrorizes a lawmaker who made some questionable YouTube comments about her “Body” video. Megan effectively makes him regret his bad comments by splashing coffee on him and disrupting his calm bath. Tina Snow, the rapper’s fan-favorite alter-ego, makes a comeback with “Thot Sh*t,” which was popularized thanks to her 2018 mixtape of the same name. Highlights from the album include “Big Ol Freak” and “Freak Nasty,” both of which showcase the raucous tone of her new song.
Prior to the song’s release, Megan spoke about the song on Twitter after a fan asked her for the inspiration behind the song. “I’m really just talking sh*t and taking ownership of the words ‘thot’ and ‘hoe,’” she wrote. “Bc they’re not the drag the men think it is when trying to come at women for doing them.”
