Jordana Brewster, a long-time Fast & Furious star, revealed the actress she most wanted to recruit to the franchise, and almost did until another huge property swooped in, during a new interview to commemorate F9 finally revving its way into theaters on Friday. Brewster stated that she and co-actress Michelle Rodriguez were planning a scheme to bring Fleabag writer and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge into the ensemble, but James Bond beat them to it. The Hollywood Reporter reports:
We were like, “She would be so awesome.” And then we were like, “Damnit! They snagged her.” Because Tej (Ludacris) and Roman (Tyrese Gibson) add so much fun, I believe she’d be fantastic. Which I believe you require. The film is so intense that you feel like you’re dying every time you see one of the six-minute action sequences. Then it’ll be lightened up by Roman and Tej. Phoebe Waller-British, Bridge’s sardonic humor would be a great addition.
Perhaps there is yet time. Waller- Bridge’s work with Bond is finished, and she’s currently filming Indiana Jones 5, so there could be room in her schedule for the next Fast & Furious picture. Put her in a car with Betty White, and the tickets will almost sell themselves. At that moment, the rest of the cast is nearly unnecessary. Allow her to pierce the fourth wall. While driving through an actual brick wall. Is anyone taking notes on this? Vin? Anyone?
