You can tell if an artist is good just by looking at their name. That’s the image I had when I saw the name “Goon Des Garcons,” and I’m happy to report that his UPROXX Sessions rendition of “Clanks” meets up to that expectation.
The creatively named rapper, who hails from small-town Arkansas and is signed to Def Jam, has collaborated with underground fan favorites such as Fredo Bang, Landstrip Chip, and Reese Laflare. Musically, he draws on Kanye West fans like Kid Cudi and Travis Scott, as well as the rebellious sonic tendencies of wavemakers like Tyler The Creator and musicians influenced by him like Kevin Abstract and AG Club. It’s upbeat and confident, but also down-to-earth and just odd enough to stick out from the crowd. Stay tuned, because I have a feeling you’ll be hearing this name a lot more often in the near future.
