Fans have been waiting more than four years for a successor to 21 Savage and Metro Boomin’s Savage Mode project. The project was finally released in October 2020, and unlike the first installment, which was merely a mixtape, the second installment was released as a full-length album, which received critical and popular acclaim. 21 Savage and Metro Boomin continue to promote Savage Mode II with a video for “Brand New Draco,” which was released about a year ago.
The new video focuses on 21 Savage’s wit while maintaining his threatening raps, which frequently venture into dark territory. The Atlanta rapper takes on the role of a financial counselor, promoting his new stock, $DRCO. Testimonies from DJ Khaled, Bow Wow, Shaquille O’Neal, and others are used to make promises of financial success. It’s all a ruse, though, as the corporation 21 Savage and Metro Boomin co-founded is forced to split shortly before police enforcement searches their office and arrests them for an unknown crime.
The video joins “Glock In My Lap,” “My Dawg,” and “Runnin” as other songs from Savage Mode II to receive the visual treatment. On a more recent note, 21 recently signed as a headlining act, along with North Carolina rapper Morray, for J. Cole’s The Off-Season tour.
