Please take a seat, remove your hat with the concealed microphone, and listen to the most recent episode of Pod Yourself A Gun. Matt and Vince are joined by Alison Rosen of the Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend and Childish podcasts to discuss The Sopranos season five episode two, “The Rat Pack.“
It is our job as the world’s only Sopranos podcast to point out that the title of this episode has two meanings. It alludes to the trio of renowned crooners shown in the collage given to Tony by Jack Massarone in the first scene, as well as Jack Massarone, Ray Curto, and Adriana, who are informing the FBI on Tony. Is it possible to have a single sentence with two meanings? That, my friends, is modern art.
Tony expresses his distaste for art, prompting Alison, Matt, and Vince to wonder if this is the writers’ way of mocking these meathead people who can’t appreciate art. Tony f*cks a lot, eats meats, and is powerful, which is exactly the type of guy a skinny, dorky writer would despise, so maybe they’re right.
Other questions we try to answer on the podcast include: Where do mafia members acquire the dead rats to place into the lips of their dead snitch? Tony is he chubby, wide, or Sicilian husky? Is Vince’s heart too pure for him to win a poker game? Can Matt explain crypto to Alison in a way that she understands? Now is the time to find out.
