Park Hye Jin, a multi-hyphenate from South Korea, has released the second single from her upcoming debut album, Before I Die. The downtempo tune, titled “Whatchu Doin Later,” is partially rapped in English and Korean and follows the release of “Let’s Sing Let’s Dance.”
The singer, rapper, producer, and DJ announced earlier this month that her debut album, Before I Die, would be released through Ninja Tune in the fall. Park Hye Jin wrote, produced, and performed all of the songs on the album, which follows a string of high-profile collaborations with musicians such as Clams Casino and Take A Daytrip (“Y Don’t U”), Blood Orange (“Call Me (Freestyle)”), Nosaj Thing (“Clouds”), and Galcher Lustwerk. Park Hye Jin also announced that she will be on the road in the fall, with her upcoming US tour dates beginning in Toronto in October.
In a 2019 interview with Hypebae, Park Hye Jin described her myriad influences, saying, “Beenzino is definitely one of my major influences. He’s a Korean rapper and artist. I started listening to him the very moment I started making music alone. Since my Europe tour, I’ve had the opportunity to play alongside so many artists who have inspired me, like Jamie xx.”
