Matt Gaetz may be under federal investigation for his involvement in a sex trafficking operation, but he isn’t unloved. Not at all. He has a devoted following, with some even showing out to witness him do a Huey Lewis impersonation on the sidewalk. He’s even got a girlfriend. As a result, there is someone for everyone. However, one of his most vocal critics has close ties to him: His future sister-in-law has published three (3) videos calling him “strange and creepy.“
Ginger Luckey is Gaetz’ fiancée, while Roxanne Luckey is her sister. Roxanne began her TikTok attack on the Florida lawmaker on Sunday, according to The Daily Beast, with a video of her lip-syncing to Lana Del Ray’s “Jealous Girl.” A New York Times headline in the backdrop reads, “Matt Gaetz Is Said to Face Justice Department Inquiry Over Sex With an Underage Girl.” “When a scary elderly man attempts to hit on you at the bar but your sisters are engaged to a literal pedophile,” she wrote.
On Monday night, Roxanne took that back significantly, apologizing for labelling Gaetz a “pedophile.” “Ephebophile,” she reasoned, was a better fit for someone who was drawn to mid-to-late adolescent girls.
Roxanne, now 20, told a story of how Gaetz tried to set her up with a considerably older man when she was 19, in one video. Gaetz blew up on her when she challenged him, she claimed, “gaslighting” her and went “full lawyer.”
“I saw the character and type of person he is, and when everything came out about him, I honestly, unfortunately, was not surprised,” Roxanne said. “As someone who has personally experienced a ton of creepy old politician men hitting on me when I was underage, and experiencing sexual assault at that age by people of power, it’s very disheartening and I have zero tolerance of people like [Gaetz].”
Roxanne emphasized that her assessment of Gaetz is not just based on her personal experiences. She heard “through the grapevine” while interning in D.C. that he “had a reputation of prowling for college girls when he’s a mature guy, and to me that’s just kind of weird.”
Ginger, Roxanne’s sister, who married Gaetz on New Year’s Eve last year at Mar-a-Lago, said the two sisters were estranged when The Daily Beast contacted her for comment. (However, Roxanne said in one video that she last saw Gaetz in November.)
“Matt and I are enjoying our engagement and are deeply in love. My estranged sister is mentally unwell,” Ginger Luckey told the publication. “She has been in therapy for years and our family hopes that after receiving in-patient mental health treatment, she will overcome the tendency she has repeatedly shown to engage in destructive behavior.”
In the meantime, Joel Greenberg, the former Florida tax official and Gaetz associate linked to the sex trafficking ring, is cooperating with federal investigators.
