Delta Kream, The Black Keys’ ninth studio album, has the scuzzy electric guitar and bluesy twang of their prior releases, but it’s also unique. Delta Kream is a collection of eleven Mississippi hill country blues songs that the band has covered, coupled with a video for “Poor Boy A Long Way From Home.”
In the video, The Black Keys pay tribute to famous vocalist R. L. Burnside, who is known for his legendary performances of the song. The video for “Poor Boy A Long Way From Home,” directed by Ryan Nadzam, shows the band performing the song at Blue Front Café in Bentonia, Mississippi (which is the oldest active juke joint in America, according to Rolling Stone)
Prior to the premiere of the video, the band announced that they will be embarking on a tour. However, it’s hardly the type of tour that a stadium-selling band like The Black Keys would expect. Their three-stop World Tour of America takes them through cities in the United States that are named after other cities: Athens, GA, St Petersburg, FL, and Oxford, MS. In a statement about the tour, drummer Patrick Carney said: “It feels like now is as good a time as any, and we are excited to play in some places we haven’t played since the early days of the band and for fans that have not had a chance to see us in a while.”
