BTS has announced that their Map Of The Soul World Tour would be canceled due to increasing pandemic worries. “Our organization has worked hard to resume preparations for the BTS Map Of The Soul Tour, knowing that all fans have been waiting excitedly and long for the tour,” Big Hit Music said in a statement. “It has become difficult to restart performances at the same scale and timetable as previously planned due to changing circumstances beyond our control.”
The tour was announced in January 2020 and was supposed to begin in April 2020, but it was postponed because to the Covid-19 pandemic in February 2020. According to the announcement, the tour has now been officially canceled. “We are working on putting together a timetable and performance format that will fit your needs, and we will send you updated announcements as soon as we can.”
Due to continued concerns over Covid’s extremely contagious Delta form, BTS has joined a slew of other big-name acts that have canceled tour dates. Garth Brooks canceled the next five concerts on his stadium tour this week, citing COVID safety concerns: “I honestly believed the pandemic had passed us by early July. Now that I’ve seen this new wave, I recognize we’re still in it, and I have to do my part,” Brooks said in a statement. Nine Inch Nails also canceled the rest of their 2021 gigs, stating, “These shows were supposed to be a cathartic and joyous return to live music when initially planned.” However, it’s becoming clearer by the day that we’re not quite there yet.”
