Mario is now facing a public relations nightmare, as if he didn’t have enough on his plate already. Wario, Mario’s arch-nemesis, temporarily took over Nintendo of America’s Twitter account on Friday to celebrate the debut of WarioWare: Get it Together, publishing leading polls, filthy photos and audio samples, and, of course, a lot of crazy laughter.
Oh, and just in case you’d rather hear all this laughter for yourself (as well as some other… bodily noises), here’s a small audio clip from the mustard-colored mustachio’d man himself.
Wario, the harsh and crass Nintendo icon, is also the star of his own series, WarioWare, for those who only know him from appearances in titles like Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros. WarioWare games, which began in 2003 with WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! for the Game Boy Advance, are effectively collections of incredibly brief mini-games that elicit intense competitiveness among players. WarioWare: Get it Together, the latest installment in the series, was released for Nintendo Switch earlier today and includes 200 minigames that can be played with up to three other people.
Of course the Nintendo marketing stunt for Get it Together was fairly short-lived and the account has “been given back” to Nintendo of America, but there’s no denying that as much as Mario can’t stand his boisterous rival, the internet can’t get enough of him:
