Lil Nas X’s debut album, Montero, has finally arrived, and it’s instantly become a fan favorite among his devoted following. Because of the “Say So” rapper’s fierce contribution to the duo’s pilates anthem, many of the album’s listeners have already rushed to “Scoop,” his collaboration with Doja Cat. Lil Nas had already teased the song in an intense video sample that showed him turning up and rapping along to the track, so it was already a highly anticipated cut from Montero.
Montero includes 15 songs and guest appearances from Megan Thee Stallion, Jack Harlow, Elton John, and Miley Cyrus, as well as Doja Cat. Lil Nas went on one of the most unusual advertising tours for the album, feigning pregnancy in the build up to the album’s “birth.” In the days preceding up to the release of Montero, the singer went through the motions of having a pregnancy photoshoot, creating a baby registry, and dealing with contractions.
Elsewhere, the singer made the Time list of 100 most influential people and performed “Industry Baby” with Jack Harlow at the 2021 MTV VMAs. The rapper also celebrated the album’s release with a hilarious video that captured him birthing Montero in the hospital.
