Jesy Nelson, a member of Little Mix, announced her departure from the female group after the release of her 2020 album Confetti. After experiencing the “continuous pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard,” the singer created Little Mix on The X-Factor in 2011. Nelson, on the other hand, appears to be planning to launch her solo career with a high-profile cooperation.
It all started when Nelson deleted all of the posts from her Instagram account and teased a “new chapter” for the performer. Nelson returned on Tuesday to give fans a sneak peek at what’s in store for her new chapter, which includes a collaboration with none other than Nicki Minaj called “Boyz.”
Both Nelson and Minaj posted behind-the-scenes footage from a dance rehearsal. The video ends with a fragment of Minaj rapping the hook in a fake British accent: “It’s the UK baddie and the Barbie.” “Do you believe they’re prepared?” Nelson posed the question to Minaj in the teaser’s caption.
Neither Nelson nor Minaj have given any indication of when “Boyz” will be released. However, the song’s release coincides with Minaj’s first public appearance in over two years, on stage at Lil Baby’s LA tour stop. Minaj took the stage again to perform her verses from “Seeing Green” and BIA’s remix of “Whole Lotta Money.”
