If you’ve been following the tale of Syesha Mercado and her partner Tyron Deener, you’re aware that they’ve been fighting valiantly to reclaim custody of their son Amen’Ra, whom they affectionately refer to as Ra. The pair has opened up about their quest to reunite with him after he was taken from their care in March. Ra appeared famished and would have died without adequate treatment, according to doctors at John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, who reported to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. Syesha, on the other hand, denies these allegations, claiming that she went to the hospital for help since she couldn’t make breastmilk.
Ra is now home after being placed in foster care, thus today appears to be a better day for the family. Syesha announced the news on her Instagram page, where she has been documenting the entire ordeal. Tyron shared a video with Syesha in the backseat, along with their daughters Ast and Ra, while driving. In April, the couple was reunited with their daughter after Manatee County Sheriff’s deputies withdrew her from their custody the next week following an alleged Child Protective Services (CPS) investigation. Syesha and Ra’s faces light up with joy in the video posted, as they are overjoyed to be together.
Tyron took a time to thank everyone for their help in bringing Ra home, but he also warned that the fight was far from finished. “Ra is officially back with us, but the battle is far from done because we have six months of state surveillance coming to our house,” Tyron explained. He went on to say that the couple will have to prove their competence and ability to raise Ra every week for the next six months. He repeated that, while Ra is at home, he and Syesha would be monitored by CPS for the next six months. Let’s keep this family in our thoughts as they continue to struggle to keep Ra at home, roommates!
