Demi Lovato is no stranger to the problems of addiction, and she’s been honest about it in her music as well as in a recent documentary that revealed disturbing information about her latest relapse. They released a new song this past weekend that examines the opposite side of the issue: losing someone you care about to addiction.
“Unforgettable (Tommy’s Song),” their new song, is dedicated to Tommy Trussell III, a good friend who died of an addiction. Because it was the two-year anniversary of Tommy’s death, the song was released on Saturday. Lovato stated in a news statement that all earnings from the song will go to Ryan Hampton’s Voices Project. Check out their complete statement about the new song below, and listen to it up top.
“Two years ago I lost someone who meant so much to me. His name was Tommy and he was such a beautiful, special man. I wrote this song the day after I found out that he had lost his battle with addiction. This disease is extremely cunning and powerful… I’m beyond grateful and proud to announce all net proceeds of this song will be going to the Voices Project founded by Ryan Hampton. If you know anyone who is struggling please call 1-800-662-HELP.”
