Snoop Dogg turned 50 today, and despite his age, the long-running hip-hop artist has no plans to slow down in his career as an entertainer. He announced on Wednesday that he will be in the upcoming NFT sitcom Da Dogg Gone Gym alongside the Harlem Globetrotters. The show will be part of the Globetrotters New Tech, New Trainer, New Tour promotion, which will include limited-edition items from Snoop and the Globetrotters, according to Hypebeast. This includes the rapper’s new team theme song, which will be available only on the cryptocurrency marketing website VAST.
The sitcom will be set in the 1970s and will star Snoop as a Globetrotter trainer who works with Junebug, a popular Bay Area dancer. Although no release date has been set, it will be his newest foray into the world of NFT. He released “NFT,” a song inspired by blockchains, as well as his own Snoop Dogg Coins earlier this year. He also revealed himself to be the real-life buyer behind the NFT identity Cozomo de’ Medici last month, according to Hypebeast.
In addition to the NFT sitcom announcement, Snoop Dogg joined E-40, Too Shoot, and Ice Cube in their video for “Big Subwoofer.” Together, the quartet comprises the rap supergroup Mount Westmore, and they premiered the song itself in a performance prior to a boxing matchup between Jake Paul and Ben Askren back in April.
