Jay-Z has been putting his artistic talents to use in a variety of ways recently, and his most recent effort is a Western film called The Harder They Fall. Jay-Z and James Lassiter co-produced the film. Idris Elba, Jonathan Majors, Regina King, Delroy Lindo, and LaKeith Stanfield star in the film, which was directed and written by Jeymes Samuel. What’s one of the best things about having Jay-Z produce your movie? He’ll be happy to assist with the soundtrack as well.
The film is currently in cinemas, but the soundtrack will be released on Netflix next week, on November 3, so tonight was the ideal time to release it. Jay, as well as other hip-hop superstars like Lauryn Hill, Jadakiss, Seal, Kid Cudi, and Koffee, make appearances on the tracklist — and, sadly, CeeLo Green does as well. The high points, such as Cudi and Jay collaborating on “Guns Go Bang” and Jay-Z, Jadakiss, Conway The Machine, and BackRoad Gee collaborating on “King Kong Riddim,” are well worth the wait. Koffee’s contribution, which amounts to the title tune, is also a magnificent addition to the already impressive lineup.
