Microsoft celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Xbox on Monday, and they threw a party to commemorate the occasion. Microsoft revealed that the multiplayer for the highly anticipated Halo Infinite would go online in Beta form during their live stream celebration. When the game launches on December 8, all progress made in the beta will be carried over to the full game. Because the multiplayer will be free to play, this is basically the multiplayer mode opening two weeks ahead of schedule. The campaign will, of course, debut in December with a price tag.
It was always going to be Halo to commemorate the Xbox’s 20th anniversary. Since the debut of the original Xbox, Halo has been the flagship title that has propelled the console forward. People bought Halo 2 to play Xbox Live multiplayer games with their pals. People purchased the Xbox 360 in order to continue their Halo 3 experience. The Series X/S is planned to carry on that tradition in Halo Infinite.
Halo Infinite is intended to be the game that completely transforms the Halo franchise. The campaign will be open world, the multiplayer will be free to play, and Microsoft has certainly invested much in Infinite. This will be the title that propels Microsoft and the Xbox ecosystem back into contention with Sony as the top developer in the video game business.
