Jurassic World: Dominion won’t be released until June 10, 2022 (which is a reminder that we’re approaching the 30th anniversary of Jurassic Park, which I’m not sure how to feel about), but Universal Pictures has released a prologue for the third and final film in the Jurassic World series that looks like it belongs in The Tree of Life.
It all started 65 million years ago, when dinosaurs ruled the world. There are large dinosaurs, little dinosaurs, feathered dinosaurs, and dinosaurs that eat eggs (get that little cutie in a short with Baby Yoda ASAP). There’s also a bug that travels us to just after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which was released in 2018. Dinosaurs have wreaked havoc on the mainland, notably at a drive-in movie, where a hungry and perplexed T-rex interrupts a double feature of American Graffiti and Flash Gordon.
The prologue, written and directed by Colin Trevorrow, does not feature in Jurassic World: Dominion, but according to Universal, it “serves as the beginning of a story that will be continued in theaters next summer.” This theater, however, is unlikely to be one of them:
Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Daniella Pineda, Isabella Sermon, Justice Smith, Omar Sy, BD Wong, Mamoudou Athie, Scott Haze, Dichen Lachman, Campbell Scott, DeWanda Wise, Scott Haze, Dichen Lachman, Campbell Scott, DeWanda Wise, and a bunch of dinosaurs star in Jurassic World: Do.
