Despite the fact that The Weekend’s latest album, Starboy, was released five years ago, he is still reminding the world of its importance. A baby Weeknd is a rare, telekinetic young man who is taken by the government -— or similar powers that be – in order to exploit his skills for their objectives in a new video for “Die For You,” which commemorates the project’s fifth anniversary. The young Weeknd, ever resilient, manages to flee and is rescued by a young lady, and the two rapidly fall in love as glow-in-the-dark stars swirl throughout the room.
But, like so many other young lovers before them, the couple is discovered before their relationship can even begin to flourish, and government goons in gas masks track down the Weeknd and attempt to reclaim him. Except they forgot about his telekinesis, so he effortlessly outwits them and soars into the sky with a brilliant red cross in his hand. For a young Weeknd, it’s not bad. Check out the video above, which was directed by Christian Breslauer.
Abel Tesfaye teamed with John Ross’s Seventh Heaven on a five-piece limited-edition collection to commemorate the album’s 10th anniversary. A sweatshirt, a short-sleeve tee, two “quality handcrafted coats in leather and denim” with Seventh Heaven’s characteristic motif, and a “padded 3D cross” are all part of the capsule collection, which also includes a cross-shaped shoulder bag.
Starting at 3 p.m. today, the capsule will be available here. The leather jacket starts at $800 and the tees start at $75.
