Erykah Badu sparked engagement rumors on Dec. 4, after sharing an Instagram upload with her alleged 27-year-old fiancé, JaRon Adkison.
Badu used social media to share photos of the couple during the solar eclipse, which took on the same day. When the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, a solar eclipse occurs, casting a shadow on the Earth. It’s possible that the eclipse will last up to seven and a half minutes.
The 50-year-old uploaded a snapshot of the couple’s hands with what look to be unique pieces of jewelry on their ring fingers as one of the shared images. Badu didn’t confirm or deny her engagement to Adkison, but she did send her “boyfriend” a nice greeting.
“Solar Eclipse Dump,” she wrote. Making place for a slew of new memories. Currently, the Moon is blocking the sun’s eyesight, forcing it to rely on other means of perception. (Closes eyes) With my heart, I see you. With my intuition, I see you. Here’s to my GUY and setting intentions, breathing easy, moving in lockstep, wonderfully matched family harmonics.”
The “Next Lifetime” singer ended the message by expressing her joy at being “here on this school called earth” alongside Adkison. Many followers congratulated Badu on her reported engagement as soon as they saw her tweet.
“Congratulations.”
“Aww yall’s engagement rings are cute!!! Congratulations!!!”
“He’s a very lucky guy, CONGRATULATIONS.”
“Beautiful Ring Sis!”
“CONGRATULATIONS Sis it’s nothing like love. We all need healthy energy/ vibes, so glad you got yours.”
Other individuals defended Badu against the criticism she was receiving because of the 23-year age gap between her and Adkison. “Y’all do too much,” one person wrote. Keep the image moving if you like it. “E owes no damn explanations to y’all.”
“I’ll never understand how people are so opinionated in other people’s life… You came on E’s page as if she genuinely cares about your opinion… She’s happy, keep that bad s–t to yourself and go cure yourself,” another added.
Prior to her purported engagement, Badu worked with Andre Benjamin, commonly known as Andre 3000, of OutKast, as well as Common, Tracy “The D.O.C.” Curry, Jay Electronica, and Carl Jones. There have been no further information disclosed concerning a supposed engagement between Badu and Adkison.
