Lizzo does it again! The Detroit born, Houston bred diva, kept her fire burning, as she captured the Grammy for Record of Year. The coveted title was for none other than her number one hit, “About Damn Time”. The Blake Slatkin and Ricky Reed produced song, also received nominations for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
During her acceptance speech, she dedicated her award to Prince, and happily gave special recognition to her idol Beyoncé. She then expressed her desire to only create positive music, while staying true to herself. Ultimately, she aims to continously use to art to make the world a better place.
Released on April 14, 2022, the disco-inspried party anthem is the lead single from Lizzo’s fourth album Special. An uplifting ode to survival of past traumas, the song is her second number one single in the United States. Another highlight of the evening’s festivities, included her rousing performance of the album’s title track, which started with a subdued version of her winning hit.
Equipped with so much sass, one can’t help to highly anticipate what Lizzo will think of next!
