In December 2024, a Family Dollar store in Mulberry, Florida, became the scene of an unusual theft. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Tina Joyce, 57, and Nikevee Curry, 36, entered the store with a plan that involved a rather unconventional distraction. While Curry collected approximately $500 worth of cleaning products, including brands like Gain, Tide, and Clorox, Joyce allegedly defecated on the store floor to divert employees’ attention. This act earned them the nicknames “Mr. Clean” and “Ms. Dookie” from authorities.
Surveillance footage from the store shows the suspects entering separately but acting in coordination. Curry is seen pushing a cart filled with merchandise, while Joyce walks in the same direction before committing the distracting act. The duo then left the store in a white Ford van.Tina
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office highlighted the unusual nature of the crime in a social media post, stating that the suspects “played different roles as they conspired in their retail theft. Very different roles.” The post humorously added hashtags like “#HeMadeACleanGetaway” and “#SheCantReallySayTheSame,” referencing the suspects’ actions.

Following the incident, Joyce was arrested on February 18, 2025, and charged with felony petit theft. She was released on a $5,000 bond ten days later. Curry, who has a prior record of theft and parole violations, was also arrested for battery by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office on December 21, 2024, and remains in custody. He is expected to be transferred to Polk County to face charges related to the Family Dollar incident upon release.
This case serves as a reminder of the lengths some individuals may go to in committing theft and the challenges retailers face in preventing such unconventional tactics.
