This page will take you through the process step by step and explain how to submit articles and become a TheUrbanTwist.com writer.
Before submitting a post, you should read the rules and guidelines first. If you don’t honor our guidelines policy first, regardless of what type of article you submit to us, it will not be accepted.
Step 1: Create a TheUrbanTwist.com account.
Go to the TheUrbanTwist.com signup page and enter a username for yourself. The username must be at least 4 characters long and can contain only letters and numbers. Your username is not your author name, so don’t worry about how it will appear on the screen.
Enter a valid email address and then check your email. You will have received an email from TheUrbanTwist.com containing a password. Click the link in your email and login to TheUrbanTwist.com to activate your account.
Step 2 (optional): Send an application via email.
Send an email to writers@theurbantwist.com containing:
a) Your name
b) Your username (from Step 1 )
c) Your application, which should be a proposal, pitch or ideas for at least 10 things you would write for TheUrbanTwist.com, as well as either writing samples or links to writing samples.
You should hear back from The Urban Twist within 48 business hours, telling you whether or not your application has been accepted.
Step 3: Submitting content for review.
You now have access as a contributor. This means you’ll be able to write posts in WordPress. Once you’ve written your article and given it a headline, and followed all of the required steps needed for SEO, then you need to select “pending review” and click “Save as Pending”, from the Publish options.
From here, a TheUrbanTwist.com editor will review your article. The article will either be published, or you’ll be emailed with suggestions for improvements.
Over time, writers with good editing and writing skills who submit regular and consistently high quality content will get a regular column on the site, and will be able to publish their own articles directly.
Please note: If you are not sure or want clarification of whether or not an article idea you have will be suitable for our site, select “Pitch”, and then within the post explain in a few sentences what you want to write about and then click “Save as Pitch”, from the Publish options as described above for “Pending Review”. We will email you to let you know if we have any questions about what you have outlined and will give you the go ahead to continue and add your content.
Generally speaking, you can’t go wrong with any news, debate, or opinionated pieces.
