Remember when this story first happened? The accuser, a 28 year-old Black stripper, claimed that she was gang-raped and beaten by a bunch of Duke lacrosse players. Needless to say, it sparked a firestorm of controversy, because it touched on so many different issues: (1) Rape (2) White men vs. Black woman (3) Rich vs. Poor.
Now, I wasn\’t there, so I can\’t say for sure what happened. But when they find \”genetic material\” from several men on the woman\’s underwear, and none of the DNA matches the accused players…well, Houston we have a problem. Later, the accuser went on to change her story about what actually happened. So there you have it. Charges dismissed.
The sad part about this whole thing, is that if something like this ever happens again, folks will be more skeptical of the woman\’s claim. Just like the boy who cried wolf.
