We have some sad news to report. Former child star Gary Coleman died earlier today after suffering a couple of brain hemorrhages that he sustained from a head injury that occurred at his Utah home earlier this week. The “Diff’rent Strokes” star was just 42.
Utah Valley Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Janet Frank said life-support was terminated and Coleman died at 12:05 p.m. local time.
His wife, Shannon Price, made the decision to pull the actor off life support early Friday morning, TMZ.com reports. Friends and family members were reportedly by Coleman’s side when he passed.
Since the incident Wednesday, Coleman, best known for playing Arnold in the ’70s TV sitcom, had slipped into a coma.
Gary Coleman has had a long history of health problems. In February, he suffered a seizure while on the set of “The Insider.” He suffered from a congenital kidney disease which halted his growth at an early age, leading to his small stature and a childlike appearance. He underwent two kidney transplants, one in 1973 and one in 1984, and required daily dialysis.
