It seems that the Cavs may be ready to fight LeBron after what he’s done to their team by leaving.
Many Cleveland fans are still a little steamed at LeBron’s decision to bolt and team up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami, but there may not be a person more heated than Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert.
He has come out swinging haymakers at LeBron and offers nothing but harsh criticism for him and he airs it all out in an open letter to the Cavalier fans.
He wrote:
As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.
This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.
You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.
This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown “chosen one” sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And “who” we would want them to grow-up to become.
Gilbert also criticized LeBron’s playoff performance against the Boston Celtics in an interview with the AP.
“He quit,” Gilbert said. “Not just in Game 5, but in Games 2, 4 and 6. Watch the tape. The Boston series was unlike anything in the history of sports for a superstar.”
One has to wonder that if Gilbert truly felt that LeBron gave up on the team then why would he be going after LeBron so hard by trying to get him to re-sign with the team. This letter sounds to me like Gilbert’s the boyfriend that was just dumped by his girl and he’s trying to save face by calling her all kinds of nasty names. Gilbert, you got to grow up and move on.
