1.) Prepare your Return Yourself
We’re always on the internet, so why not use that to your advantage.
Go to IRS.gov. And read up on some of the tax laws that may affect you. You may even qualify to file your return for free electronically through the IRS’s “FreeFile” service that you can easily find on their homepage.
The majority of returns filed are cut and dry, with many taking the standard deduction, without having to itemize, and only worked a job or two. All of that equals up to an easy return. You should be able to do that return yourself with ease.
Then, just in case you still have reservations about doing it yourself, why not look up a local IRS office in your area and you may qualify for them to prepare your return for free. So you’ll still have the preparer like you normally would, but without the fee that they would charge.
Just save your money and use it for something else and get the full refund that you’re entitled to.
