Even though there’s a lockout, it can’t stop a team from changing its name, as the New Jersey Nets officially became the Brooklyn Nets.
Brooklyn native Jay-Z, who is part owner of the franchise, plans to celebrate the grand opening of the new arena by doing a series of eight concerts. The Barclays Center is set to officially open on Sept. 28, 2012 with the first concert and will have three weeks of special events before the basketball season starts.
