Could things get any worse for NBA star Lamar Odom? Odom who was traded to the Mavericks from the Lakers in the off season simply hasn’t been playing his usual game for pretty much all season. Many people believe that he never really got over almost being traded to the New Orleans Hornets. What ever the case may be, this could be a devastating blow that might cost the Mavericks. The extremely talented power forward, and last year’s Sixth Man of the Year, was sent down to the D-League today to work on getting his groove back.
Odom left the Mavericks last week to care for his ailing father in Los Angeles, and though that absence was excused, his poor play since joining the defending champions has not been. Ever since he was traded to the Mavs, it was said that Lamar showed up to camp out of shape, sluggish and uninterested in the Mav’s game plan. Lamar who at 6-10 is said to be one the most gifted all around forwards in the league is having trouble finding his rhythm, only averaging 7.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per a game. It makes you wonder what is really going on with Odom?
Lamar is obviously a sensitive man and this public demotion could embarrass him even further, sending him to a place that may push him down further, but then again this could be a wake up call and he could then become rejuvenated.
Sending Lamar to the D-League could help in returning him to the become the Lamar that we all miss. Who knows? We will have to see how this all unfolds.
Odom is said to be starting his stint with the Texas Legends and his first game will be tomorrow afternoon.
