And now on to the list…
10. Dreamworks Holiday Classics
This isn’t really a movie but rather a collection of animation shorts that the children (and us adults) are sure to love. Join your DreamWorks friends for these four holiday specials. Watch as those wacky animals from Madagascar save Christmas; Donkey puts on a caroling Christmas Shrek-tacular; and Hiccup and Toothless unveil an explosive holiday Dragons surprise.
This collection is fun for the entire family and will bring a lot of holiday cheer.
9. Santa Claus Conquers The Martians
If you’re up for some “cheese” this holiday season, there’s no better movie than this one. This movie is actually a pretty bad movie and regularly appears on lists of “worst movies ever made” but in some instances this movie is so bad that it’s actually good and you and the family could easily trip from it.
This movie is exactly as described. The Martians are irked that their children spend so much time watching TV shows from Earth that sing the praises of Santa Claus, so they decide to make a trek to the planet to capture Mr. Claus who in turns conquers them. Sounds like the recipe for a good movie indeed.
8. All I Want For Christmas
Forget about the Xbox One and PS4, the only thing that siblings Hallie and Ethan are hoping they get for Christmas is the reconciliation of their divorced parents, and they’re convinced that all it will take is getting Mom and Dad in the same room at the same time.
7. White Christmas
White Christmas is a holiday classic. It’s the perfect movie to watch with the family on Christmas Eve with the fire roaring. Even if old movies generally aren’t your thing, you might enjoy this one.
6. The Nightmare Before Christmas
Once upon a time, Tim Burton created Jack Skellington, and a holiday hero was born. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a great film, because you get to watch it twice a year: once on Halloween and once on Christmas!
5. The Polar Express
Get into the holiday spirit with an animated version of the beautifully illustrated children’s book The Polar Express. The big-screen version about a boy headed to the North Pole on Christmas Eve features the voice of Tom Hanks as the train’s conductor, as well as stunning graphics.
4. Jingle All the Way
What’s a holiday season without some quality Arnold Schwarzenegger time? Jingle All the Way is a classic for kids who grew up in the ’90s.
3. Jack Frost
Michael Keaton stars in Jack Frost as a dad who gets another chance at fatherhood when he dies and is reincarnated as a snowman. It’s not as creepy as it sounds.
2. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
No one does Christmas quite like Clark Griswold, and nothing says “holidays” quite like a viewing of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Learn from Clark’s mistakes; make sure your family brings its own trailer to sleep in.
1. Santa Claus: The Movie
This is the delightful story of a master toymaker who discovers a magical kingdom of elves at the North Pole. There he is entrusted with special powers. There he becomes the man, the myth, the legend…Santa Claus.
