The Baltimore Ravens who were now officially without Ray Rice, their star halfback, after he was cut from the team and suspended indefinitely by the NFL bounced back from the scandal to beat Steelers 26-6.
Joe Flacco inspired the Ravens with a pair of touchdown passes during the pivotal divisional game on Thursday night, just 3 days after the release of the Ray Rice video by TMZ.
Rice’s two-game suspension was about to come to an end for allegedly abusing his now wife, then fiancee, Janay Palmer, when a video of him striking her surfaced on Monday.
The Ravens coach John Harbaugh said the team had handled the Rice scandal well and did not take it with them into the game.
Coming off a season-opening loss to AFC North foe Cincinnati, the Ravens (1-1) held Pittsburgh to two field goals and forced three turnovers. Rookie linebacker C.J. Mosley, after the game said that they went out there to get a win and did it for Ray. He went ahead to say although Rice had messed up, that he had to stand strong through his mistakes and get better and he wished him the best of luck.
This was only the second time in the last 11 regular-season meetings between the teams that the outcome was decided by more than three points.
