Have you ever shared something on Facebook? What about Twitter, Tumblr, Google+, Instagram, or any of the other thousands of social media networks out there?
Most people reading this post’s answer is most likely “yes.” It’s just human nature to share something we like, and since we as a society are tied literally to the hip to Facebook and Twitter especially, it doesn’t take much time or energy for us to pass information and links on to our circle of “friends.”
Now, let me rephrase the initial question I asked and say “have you ever shared something on Facebook and got paid for sharing that link?”
Your answer might have changed and went from a “yes” to a “no,” and you might even be asking yourself now, how or why should you have been paid to post a link on your Facebook page.
The answer is quite simple, and that’s because sites like The Urban Twist get paid advertising revenue usually based on the number of views the site receives.
In advertising terms, a website such as ours will earn money based per 1,000 views. “RPM” is the term that you may see thrown around on the internet if you were to research this further. “RPM” is an acronym that stands for “Revenue per Mille”. Mille means “thousand” in Latin.
This is the method we use to determine how much we pay our bloggers, by sharing our ad revenue by monitoring our RPM. This is also the method that we will also use to pay you to become one of our Social Media Brand Ambassadors by sharing our links through our recently launched affiliate program.
That’s right, you don’t have to share links for free anymore. You simply browse our site for news stories and videos, and you simply share that content with your friends. It’s as simple as that.
You’ll be assigned a special URL modifier that you’ll add to the end of any of our site’s URLs. You’ll share our links, support our bloggers by getting some views to their articles, and you will be paid $2.00 for every 1,000 views your special link generates.
Our site is like Huffington Post, Complex Magazine, with a little Worldstar adding into the mix as well to give you an idea of our site’s makeup. Obviously, our site is nowhere as popular as these sites (at the moment) which is one of the reasons for starting this program. We feel that our site has the potential to become as popular as those sites with the right kind of promotion.
Our inspiration for launching this program was seeing how a lot of folks promote MyLikes and ChaCha links and felt like our website’s quality exceeds sites like those and our content doesn’t come off as being spammy.
There’s less risk, based on our research of turning your friends and followers off and losing them when compared to other publishing networks such as MyLikes. To put it in layman’s terms, the link being advertised is the content that your followers will see. There won’t be any need to manipulate your followers into clicking slideshows that most likely won’t be as advertised, just to risk losing your friends or followers as a result.
So to quickly sum it up for those interested.
Here’s how it works:
- Just choose any post on our website and simply add your unique URL modifier (which will be assigned to you) to the end of the URL.
- Share the link (with your modifier at the end).
- You will get a commission for every view generated by your sharing activities. Even if your followers were to share the link you share, you’d get credit for views generated by those shares as well.
If you have writing experience and were to become an author yourself, you can actually get paid TWICE for sharing links. You’d get paid as an affiliate and you’d get paid as an author. As I mentioned before, we have an author revenue share program in place so if you were to promote your own articles, you’d get paid based off of that as well. So this is one easy way to essentially get paid twice for posting the same links.
You have to also apply to become a writer on our site. This is so we know that you can meet quality standards. Our site is not a content mill where we will just post anything. We have to know that when you send over a story to be published, that it is ready to be published and that there’s little editing if any that needs to be done. We have handy guides and tutorials in place to help aid you in the writing process if needed. Our website is a recognized news source and we are affiliated with Google and Bing News networks so if you know how to write for them and how to curate viral type news posts, that’s a plus.
Pay rate is as follows:
$2 per 1,000 views, which is basically .002 per click or view.
Now I know that this doesn’t sound like much but it adds up really quickly, especially if you have a lot of friends or followers.
Here is a quick calculation on how much you can earn by posting maybe 2 links a day and getting 50 clicks on each link.
50 clicks x .002 = .10
.10 x 2 links = .20
.20 x 30 days = $6.00
So that’s $6 a month based off this estimate for doing something that you may already be doing, and for doing something that’ll take about 20 seconds to do each day. If you have a lot of friends, the sky’s the limit and you could easily make waaaaaaay more than this conservative estimate.
Imagine 500 clicks per link (using this example), then that’s $60. 5,000 clicks would bring in $600. 50,000 clicks would amount to $6,000.
Not to mention that we are willing to negotiate and bump your rate up if you can consistently get us results, or have a large following.
Our author revenue share rates go up to $3 per 1,000 views once certain criteria is met. So we’re talking about you possibly earning up to $5 per 1,000 views if you were to combine and work both programs.
Please Note:
That this program is not a get rich quick scheme nor am I claiming it to be. It’s a program that will be more beneficial to those who have large social media followings. This program was launched because again, we’re trying to get more eyeballs on our writers’ stories so that we can pay them more for their services, and we’re willing to pay you to become a brand ambassador and pass links on to your friends.
We have the right to terminate this arrangement at any time. We’re also not looking for traffic coming from places other than the US, Canada, or the UK. Now we know, that getting 100% traffic from these places is virtually impossible, so we’re just looking for the majority of this traffic to come from these places, hopefully at least 65%. If, for some reason, the traffic you send our way isn’t working for us, we have a right to terminate the agreement and will furnish documented proof of where your traffic is coming from as the reason why. So please not apply unless your followers are mostly from the 3 countries listed above.
